The United States has killed the mastermind of a double attack on Kabul airport
The mastermind of the twin attacks at Kabul airport has been killed. The United States has said in a preliminary report that it has launched a military operation against ISKP (ISIL) planners. The man targeted in their drone strike was killed. The assault occurred in eastern Afghanistan.
President Joe Biden announced retaliation shortly after the bombing in Kabul.
The U.S. military said in a proclamation Friday that it had gotten "beginning signs" that it had killed the objective. We do not know of any civilian casualties.
Capt. Bill Urban of U.S. Central Command said in a statement that drone strikes had been carried out in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province. Beginning signs are that we killed the objective.
The Islamic State in Khorasan Province or ISKP (also known as ISIS), the Afghan branch of ISIL, claimed responsibility for Thursday's bombing at Kabul International Airport.
US President Joe Biden has announced he will retaliate against the Kabul attack.
