Flood water kills 18 patients at the hospital

6.4 magnitude earthquake shakes Mexico

At least 16 patients have died in a hospital in central Mexico, a North American country, due to a power outage and lack of oxygen. The accident happened on Tuesday local time. Authorities said the hospital was flooded due to floodwaters. A tweet from the country's government said heavy rains had caused floods in the town of Tula in the state of Hidalgo. In a tweet, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said: "I am deeply saddened by the deaths of 18 people.

Joe Robledo, head of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, an organization that cares for Mexican social security, said the hospital was flooded within minutes. Later, due to a power outage, an oxygen crisis occurred in the hospital. Mexico's local media reported that 56 patients were evacuated from the hospital after the power outage. Several of the dead were also corona patients. Mexico, on the other hand, was hit by a strong earthquake, measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake hit the city of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero on Tuesday night (8:15 a.m. Bangladesh time). It originated 18 km from Acapulco beach. The quake shook the mountains of Acapulco, according to Reuters.

The rocks of the mountain collapsed and the trees fell on the road. When the buildings shook, panicked people took to the streets. Guerrero Governor Hector Astudillo said there were no immediate reports of casualties. The capital is Mexico City, about 365 kilometers from Acapulco. The country's National Seismological Service said the quake's aftershocks were also felt in remote capitals.
