Beth Telman, a researcher at Columbia University's Earth Institute and co-founder of Cloud to Street, an organization based on flood analysis, said people are 10 times more at risk of flooding than ever before. It is known that floods are the biggest natural disaster in the world among the various natural disasters caused by climate change. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in India, China, Germany and Belgium. The floods have also increased the damage there. According to satellite data, the number of floods in Latin America and the Middle East has also risen in recent times. It is feared that in the future, 2.8 million people will lose their land every year due to floods in Africa.


In an article published in the journal Nature, the researchers provided detailed information on the subject. They said that from 2000 to 2016, 22 lakh 30 thousand square kilometers of the world has been affected by floods. Due to this about 29 crore people have been affected. It is feared that by 2030, 25 more countries will become flood-prone areas due to climate change and geographical migration.
