🌸 Surah Al-Inshirah (94:6) — Indeed, with Hardship Comes Ease
Arabic:
إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
Translation (Sahih International):
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” (Surah Al-Inshirah, 94:6)
🌿 Context:
This short yet deeply powerful verse was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during a time of great difficulty and emotional struggle. After facing rejection, persecution, and sadness in Makkah, Allah reassured him — that after every hardship, relief and ease are surely on their way. It is a timeless promise to every believer: your pain is not permanent, and Allah’s mercy always follows patience.
📖 Quranic Verse of the Day and Its Lesson 1
💭 Reflection:
Every believer faces moments when life feels unbearable — financial loss, illness, heartbreak, or betrayal. But Allah reminds us that every hardship carries its own ease within it. The verse doesn’t say “after hardship,” but “with hardship.” That means — even while you are struggling, Allah is already preparing your relief. It’s a divine balance: the pain and the cure come together, though we might only see one at a time.
🌼 Lessons We Learn:
- 1. Hardship is never wasted: Every test purifies you, teaches patience, and increases your reward.
- 2. Allah is always with you: Even when you feel alone, He’s closer than your heartbeat, guiding your steps.
- 3. Ease is promised twice: In verses 5 and 6, Allah repeats the same message — to emphasize that ease will surely come.
- 4. Keep faith through trials: True believers remain hopeful because they know Allah never abandons His servants.
🌙 Modern Reflection:
In the modern world, stress, anxiety, and depression are common struggles. This verse gives believers an emotional anchor — a reason to stay calm when life feels heavy. When a door closes, Allah opens another — sometimes in ways we never expect. If you are struggling today, remember: this verse was revealed to comfort the Prophet ﷺ himself — the most beloved to Allah — during his hardest moments. So if Allah comforted him, surely He will comfort you too.
🌻 Practical Steps for Today:
- When overwhelmed, recite this verse slowly and believe in its truth.
- Start your day by saying, “Allah is with me — He will make it easy.”
- Keep a gratitude list to remind yourself of blessings hidden within challenges.
- Encourage someone else who’s struggling; be the “ease” in their hardship.
📖 Tafsir Insights:
According to Ibn Kathir, Allah’s repetition of this verse is a strong confirmation — hardship will never overpower ease. The Arabic word “al-‘usr” (the hardship) appears with “ma‘a” (with), indicating that the two coexist. Scholars say: “Every one hardship will never defeat two eases,” based on the repetition — a double reassurance from Allah.
🌺 A Reminder for the Soul:
When you feel broken, whisper this verse to your heart. It’s not just a verse — it’s Allah’s promise. Pain is temporary, but reward is eternal. Hold on — relief is already on its way.
🤲 Short Dua:
“Allahumma inni as’aluka sabran jameelan wa farajan qareeban.”
(O Allah, grant me beautiful patience and a near relief.)
