Trying to protect the world's largest tree by wrapping it in a blanket

Aluminum foil has been wrapped around the roots of several trees, including General Sherman, to protect them from wildfires in the US state of California. The height of the two and a half thousand year old tree is 275 feet. It is also the largest living branch tree in the world in terms of size.

Large areas of the state of California are burning in the fire. California's famous Sequoia National Park is home to some of the world's oldest and largest trees. The trees are being wrapped with fire resistant blankets to protect them from the oncoming fire.

According to the BBC, the local administration is expecting the fire to reach the huge forest area in the next few hours. More than 350 firefighters are working to control the blaze, along with several helicopters and aircraft.

The forest has about two thousand tall sequoia trees. The tallest Sequoia tree is named General Sherman. The height of the two and a half thousand year old tree is 275 feet. It is also the largest living branch tree in the world in terms of size.

Several trees, including General Sherman, have been wrapped in aluminum foil to protect them from the heat of the fire.

"The area is very important to many people," said Rebecca Patterson, a spokeswoman for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Everyone is doing their best to save this forest. '

Experts say that the Sequoia tree is naturally fire-resistant and has evolved to survive the heat of the fire.

The intensity of the fire has been increasing in the colony and paradise area for a week due to the lightning. There have been 7,500 wildfires in California so far this year. More than 22 lakh acres of forest land have been burnt.
